Time to be creative...
Right, so I'm finished with my thesis, which now is getting printed into 50 small 103-paged books... Now what.. I figured that what lacked from my life this summer was some good old creativity!
So, I decided to spend a couple of hours designing a new logo for my imaginary soccer team "Harvard FC", which can be found at www.hattrick.org.
First the hunt begun for a hi-res logo of Harvard Medical School, whch actually was much harder to find than can be imagined! This is the "bottom" logo on this page.
I used Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 to add noise, and craquelate effect on the reds, then noise on the blacks and whites, including the lion. I was inspired by Red Stone and Black Granite for this section of the work. I aimed for White Marble, but it was too difficult to achieve. The whites instead resemble ordinary Sandstone.
Now for the depth-effect. I rendered the reds with a Soft Spotlight effect, that only affected the red channel, which gave the depth effect of the Red Stone due to the shadows imposed on the black. Then I added three soft Spotlights on the whole picture, with the centres outside the canvas as to give a soft impression.
I decided to first add the Harvard FC / 2005 Name as it was above the logo, with a copy of the text in Black, imposed underneath to give the shadow effect.
Later today I decided to create an Insignia on a White Sandstone Plaque, which I created through the use of the above mentioned effects. I added the black text, and used a Black-only Spotlight effect to give the shadows to is, as the was actually engraved in the plaque.
The final touch involved three 105mm Lens Flare effects on the three corners, which may or may not be over-the-top. For the time being I like them, but I might remove them ..
:)
Click on the top (final logo) for the hi-res verion! It's just simply awesome I think! :D
Ok, gotta go.. See you later
